A number of Chicago area police departments are about to undergo some changes.
The reconfigurations in the Chicago Police Department are scheduled to go into effect Sunday, according to a media release.
Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy plans to discuss the launch of Area reconfigurations and consolidations at 4 p.m., Saturday, in the North Side Town Hall District about the changes that will go into effect Sunday, according to a media release.
Under the new plan the CPD's reconfigurations will also consist of consolidating some of the districts and bureaus. The South Side 2nd District and the North Side 19th District will be combined into one, and the Central (Area 1), South (Area 2) and North (Area 3) Detective Bureaus will also be combined.
