Maureen Firkins talks about her son and pleads for information about the cab driver who critically injured him.
The 32-year-old who man who was dragged by a cab after arguing with the driver last week died Saturday from his injuries.
Daniel Firkins was leaning through the window of a cab, arguing with the driver, when the cabbie sped off, dragging Firkins and ultimately running him over.
Firkins had been in a drug-induced coma at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and his parents acknowledged several days ago that their son likely wouldn't make it.
Nevertheless, Maureen and David Firkins held a bedside vigil for their son throughout the week.
"This wasn't a hit-and-run or, 'Oh, Dan was distracted and walked out in front of a cab,' his mother said earlier this week. "The cab was stopped and then he was murdered. I mean, he was murdered. And it's like in broad daylight."
No arrest has been made, and police continue to investigate, reports the Chicago Tribune.
