A 12-year-old boy was struck by lightning Friday as a storm passed outside his school in Flossmoor, authorities said.

The sixth grader fell down when lighting hit a near-by object and then hit him. But he managed to get up and board the school bus, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The boy was standing outside the Parker Junior High School when the incident happened. The bus driver rushed him to the Advocate South Suburban Hospital to be checked out.

He sustained minor injuries.
