Hospitals across Illinois have been preparing for weeks now for the rollout of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

The latest coronavirus surge is hitting suburban Chicago areas especially hard. On Tuesday the posititivy rate jumped to 20.3 percent, which means that one in every five people who took a coronavirus test over the past week tested positive. And hospitals are filling up. NBC 5’s Lauren Petty reports.
