On Sunday, convention-goers were invited to a special performance at the Buddy Guy's Legends nightclub by the Paper Tongues, a seven-piece band from Charlotte, North Carolina, whose music mixes rock with hip-hop. The band is the latest discovery by American Idol co-host Randy Jackson, who was also on hand to introduce the band to the packed crowd.

After accepting the Chairman's Award For Sustained Creative Achievement, pop music and fashion icon Cyndi Lauper performed blues tunes from her new album, Memphis Blues, featuring Charlie Musselwhite and Allen Toussaint. Blessed with the chance to work with such blues greats, Lauper called the album the "holy grail" of all her albums, since blues is the essence of everything she sings.
