A northwest Chicago suburb is getting its five minutes of fame.
Sandra Bullock's character in the upcoming thriller, "Gravity," hails from Illinois' own Lake Zurich, a town of about 20,000 named in the past by national publications as a family friendly and affordable place to live.
The hometown of Bullock's character, Dr. Ryan Stone, isn't just implied, though.
When co-star and fellow Oscar winner George Clooney asks Stone where she calls home, she replies with "Lake Zurich, Illinois." (Hear it in the trailer below.)
It's already buzzing around town, and the movie doesn't hit theaters until Friday.
Village President Tom Poynton told the Chicago Sun-Times he received dozens of emails about the on-screen mention. A publicist for Allied Integrated Marketing told the publication the movie's writers researched where the character may have studied in her field of medical X-ray research and development, and Lake Zurich popped up near the top of the list.
It's not clear what the silver-screen mention will mean for the town's identity, but Poynton isn't being shy.
"OPEN INVITATION TO VISIT LAKE ZURICH TO: Sandra Bullock and George Clooney for the October 4th opening of the movie GRAVITY," he posted to his Facebook page.
So far there hasn't been a response.
