Construction, Immigration March to Delay CTA

Charlie Wojciechowski

Expect delays on Sunday.

Construction is expected to affect Brown and Blue Line trains Sunday afternoon, while the annual May Day Immigration March could cause delays on the Green and Pink lines.

Brown Line trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Irving Park and Belmont stations from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the CTA’s Web site.

Passengers at the Addison, Paulina and Kimball stations must board all trains on the Kimball-bound side of the platform, the CTA said.

Additionally, Blue Line trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Belmont and California stations from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday while crews perform tack maintenance, the CTA said.

As a result, passengers must board and exit all trains on the O’Hare-bound side of the platform at the Logan Square station, the CTA said.

Minor delays are expected, and the CTA advises passengers to allow extra travel time.

The CTA is also warning Green and Pink Line riders that service may be affected from noon to 6 p.m. because of the May Day Immigration March from Union Park to Loomis Plaza. Buses in the area could also be affected.
