There's a reason Al Roker was broadcasting on The Today Show live from Chicago on Monday. The popular weatherman was among 25,000 runners competing in the Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon Sunday, finishing in a time of 3:02:06. He was surrounded by fellow runners when he broadcast from outside NBC's Studio 5. The huge crowd was comprised of Bank of America Chicago Marathon Charity running teams who came out in the early morning hours to celebrate running in a big way. There are some 150 Bank of America Chicago Marathon charities whose runners raised a combined $12 million dollars for their organizations. Paws, Catholic Charities, UNO, Leukemia and Lymphoma Team in Training, Worldvision, CARA Road Scholars, The Diabetes Project, Girls on the Run to name just a few. The 26.2 mile Bank of America Chicago Marathon takes place Oct. 9, 2011. If you've been training, some organizations still have a few entries to the sold-out race.
