Driver Flees After Hit-And-Run With Taxi
A cab driver and his passenger were hurt in a hit-and-run on the far North Side early Sunday.
The driver of a car that hit a taxi and injured two people early Sunday is being sought by police after fleeing the scene and abandoning the car.
Around 4 a.m., a car side-swiped a taxi cab at 6812 N. Clark St., injuring the driver of the taxi and its passenger, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
The car, a 2000 Dodge Neon, was traveling north on Clark Street, when the driver caused the car to cross over the center line and side-swipe the taxi cab, a Ford Crown Victoria, Mirabelli said.
The driver of the car drove a block from the scene of the accident and then abandoned the car, fleeing on foot, Mirabelli said. Police were looking for the hit-and-run driver Sunday morning.
The taxi driver, a 55-year-old, was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Mirabelli said. A rear-seat fare passenger in the taxi was also taken to Saint Francis Hospital, he said.
