Caught Red-Handed
Yorkville
A man previously recorded on surveillance video was tending to the pot plants he was growing in the Greene Valley Forest Preserve when police walked up to him, the Naperville Sun reported.  The 51-year-old man was arrested and released from jail after posting bond.

Man Shot Near Grade School
Bellwood
School was just being dismissed at Lincoln Elementary School at about 3 p.m. Friday when a man was shot about three blocks away, the Chicago Tribune reported.  No students were injured, but the shooting victim, a man in his early 20s, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Drive-By Near Junior High
Glenview
Springman Junior High School was put on lockdown for a brief time Friday morning after someone fired several shots from a vehicle near the building, the Chicago Tribune reported.  Officers later found shell casings.
