Woman Killed by Metra Train

A Metra train struck and killed an Arlington Heights woman Friday night.

It happened near the intersection of North Vail Ave. and West Northwest Highway around 10:30 p.m., Metra spokesperson Michael Gillis said.

The victim, 24-year-old Ashley Serola, was pronounced dead at Northwest Community Hospital shortly after 11 p.m., the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The accident caused Metra train delays into Saturday morning.

Investigators aren't sure why Serola was on the tracks.
