A 36-year-old man is reportedly accused of sexually assaulting a homeless man in a public park, but not before offering to buy him dinner, prosecutors said Friday.
James Starkey was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and ordered held on $600,000 bond Friday after he allegedly raped a 20-year-old homeless man.
Prosecutors alleged Starkey met the man Wednesday while walking in the area of Adams and Wells Streets and offered to get him something to eat, according to a report from DNAInfo.com.
The two reportedly walked to a nearby 7-Eleven, where Starkey bought two beers and an apple then offered to take the homeless man to a restaurant.
Around 10:30 p.m., in D’Angelo Park, Starkey allegedly told the victim he would give him $100 “to do stuff to the victim,” but when the homeless man refused and ran, Starkey grabbed him, choked him and raped him, the website reported.
Starkey is expected to appear in court again Sept. 18.
