Chicago Man Who Feds Say ‘Brutally' Stabbed His Bride to Death in 2012 Added to FBI's Most Wanted List

A Chicago man accused of stabbing his wife to death less than 24 hours after the two were married was added to the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list and a $10,000 reward is offered for information leading to his arrest.

Arnoldo Jimenez was charged on May 15, 2012, for the murder of his wife, 26-year-old Estrella Carrera, three days prior. Authorities say Jimenez fatally stabbed Carrera in his black, four-door, 2006 Maserati before dragging her body to the bathroom tub of her Burbank apartment. She was found by police the next day after she didn't show up to get her children. She was still wearing the sequin cocktail dress from the couple's celebratory night out. Authorities said the couple got into an argument in the car that night during which Jimenez killed Carrera.

According to the FBI, Jimenez told a friend that if the police asked about him the friend should tell authorities Jimenez fled to Mexico.

A warrant for Jimenez's arrest was issued the day he was charged, followed by a federal arrest warrant on May 17 after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

"Arnoldo Jimenez is accused of brutally stabbing his wife to death just hours after their wedding. Because of this horrific crime, a family has forever lost their mother, daughter, and sister,” Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey Sallet said in a statement. “Our local, state, and federal partners have worked tirelessly on this investigation, and we are now asking for the public’s assistance to ensure that Jimenez is swiftly brought to justice."

The FBI said Jimenez may have fled to Durango, Mexico, in the area of Santiago Papasquiaro. He may also frequent Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico and previously lived in Chicago, authorities said.

“I first want to express my condolences to the victim’s family for their tragic loss seven years ago, and thank the FBI for their assistance, commitment, and dedication in our investigation,” Burbank police Chief Richard Shore said in a statement. “This collaborate partnership will continue until Arnoldo Jimenez is apprehended and brought to justice, and I ask for the public’s assistance in locating Arnoldo Jimenez.”

Jimenez also uses the aliases Arnoldo Gimenez and Arnoldo Rochel Jimenz, the FBI said.

He has black hair, brown eyes and is 6-feet tall, about 200 to 225 pounds. He is a Hispanic American citizen born in Texas on Feb. 19, 1982.

Anyone with information concerning Jimenez should take no action themselves, the FBI said, but should immediately contact the nearest FBI office or local police. All information can remain anonymous and confidentiality is guaranteed, authorities said. People outside of the United States should contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Calls may also be directed to 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). The FBI’s Chicago Field Office may be reached at 312-421-6700.

Since the inception of the FBI’s Most Wanted List in 1950, there have been 30 fugitives wanted from the Chicago region on list, the FBI said. In addition, 29 fugitives that have been placed on the list were arrested in the Chicago area.
