Chicago residents could be offered an ownership slice in the city’s first casino.

Preparations are underway for Bally’s Casino to open their temporary home in Chicago, and the company has announced it is hiring more than 700 workers to help staff the facility.

During a contentious and at times heated meeting between alderman and Mayor Lori Lightfoot Wednesday, the Chicago City Council approved a $1.74 billion contract to bring a Bally’s Corporation casino to the city’s River West neighborhood in the 27th Ward. Lauren Petty has more.
