Woman Grabbed While on Morning Jog in Marquette Park

Police say incident happened Wednesday morning

A woman on her morning jog on the city's Southwest Side was grabbed by a man Thursday but was able to get away, according to police.

Police said the woman was jogging eastbound in the 3900 block of West 71st Street in the Marquette Park neighborhood around 7 a.m. when a man jumped out and grabbed her.

The offender did not say anything when he attempted to attack the woman, police said.

The jogger managed to fight off the man and ran away. The suspect then fled westbound on 71st Street towards Pulaski, police said.

The man is described as 24-27 years old with black hair and stands at about 5 feet, 6 inches. He weighs approximately 170 pounds, according to police.

He was last seen wearing a brown sweatshirt with a design or writing on it, dark blue pants and black gym shoes. He man is wanted for battery.

Police have issued a community alert reminding joggers to always be aware of their surroundings.
