Cyclist Killed in Waukegan Hit-and-Run

Authorities are looking for the victim’s family and the driver of the vehicle that struck him

After a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday morning in north suburban Waukegan, authorities are looking for the victim’s family and the driver of the vehicle that struck him.

Jack Henderson, 54, was riding his bicycle on eastbound Washington Street at Martin Avenue about 8 a.m., according to a statement from Waukegan police.

Henderson, of the 300 block of Ash Street in Waukegan, was taken to Vista Medical Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Lake County coroner’s office has not been able to find Henderson’s family, and asks anyone with information to call (847) 377-2200.

The vehicle that struck him is described as a two-door green sedan, and the driver was wearing a red jacket or coat. It was last seen heading eastbound on Washington.
