Seven people are dead and at least 33 others have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago over the Memorial Day weekend so far.
The most recent fatality happened just after midnight Tuesday, when three people were shot along the popular 606 trail in the city's Logan Square neighborhood, one of them fatally.
Police said the group was walking together when three other men walked up and asked them their gang affiliation before displaying weapons and opening fire.
A 22-year-old man was shot in the chest and back and was pronounced dead at Norwegian American Hospital, authorities said. A 19-year-old woman was in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital with a wound to the stomach and a 20-year-old man was shot in the lower backside and was listed in stable condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.
The gunmen fled eastbound from the scene and were not taken into custody as of Tuesday morning, according to authorities. Area North detectives were investigating, but said none of the victims appeared to be known to police.
just after 11 p.m. Monday, a 36-year-old man was shot during a verbal altercation with two juveniles, police said. One of the teens displayed a weapon and shot the man in the chest, police said. He was taken to Christ Hospital and pronounced dead, authorities said.
The teens fled on foot northbound on Cicero and were not in custody as of Tuesday morning. Area Central detectives were investigating.

The weekend's deadliest shooting happened when at least four people were shot in the 1300 block of West Hastings just after 6 a.m. Sunday, according to police. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men, a 27-year-old and a 26-year-old, who had suffered gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to Cook County Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Police say that two women, who were seated in a black sedan at the scene, were also shot. A 31-year-old woman was shot in the hip, and a 25-year-old woman was shot in the left arm.
Both women are in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
After the shooting, police recovered multiple weapons, and a possible suspect is in custody in connection with the incident. Police say that two other persons of interest are also being interviewed by detectives in connection with the shooting.
Earlier in the weekend, just after 10 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of North 77th Street, two men were standing on a sidewalk when a person in a passing vehicle fired shots, striking both victims.
A 43-year-old man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, and he later died from his injuries, police said.
Another victim, a 31-year-old man, was also taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, and he was listed in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his left leg.
A few hours later, another man was shot and killed in the 1300 block of West Hastings, according to police. Authorities were responding to a large group disturbance near the scene when shots rang out, and when they reached the man, he was unresponsive on the sidewalk, police said.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 25-year-old woman was also shot, and she's in stable condition at Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to her arm.
A fatal shooting was also reported just after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, according to police. A 29-year-old man was standing on a porch in the 100 block of West 109th Place when a person walked out of a gangway and opened fire, striking him in the chest.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead in the first fatal shooting of the weekend.
No suspects are in custody in the shooting.

Friday:
- On Friday afternoon, a 24-year-old man was walking northbound in the 6100 block of South Maplewood when he heard gunshots and felt pain, according to police. The man was shot in the upper back, and he was later taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition.
- In the 1500 block of South Sawyer at approximately 9:44 p.m., two people were walking on a sidewalk when they heard gunshots. A 15-year-old boy was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right leg, and a 27-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left leg. Both victims are in stable condition, according to police.
- Just before 11 p.m. in the 300 block of North Lake Shore Drive, a 20-year-old woman riding in the backseat of a Nissan sedan when a person in a white SUV pulled up alongside the vehicle and opened fire. The woman was shot in the right hand, and was driven to Northwestern Medical Center in stable condition, according to authorities.
- In another shooting late Friday night, a 25-year-old man was at a gas station in the 5400 block of West Diversey when a man walked up to him and opened fire, striking him in the face, according to Chicago police. The man was rushed to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. No suspects are in custody in the case.
Saturday:
- In the 300 block of North Cicero at approximately 12:01 a.m., a 31-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk when he heard gunshots. The man was taken to West Suburban, and was later transferred to Stroger Medical Center in stable condition with gunshot wounds to his right arm and right leg, police said.
- A 26-year-old man was walking down an alley in the 1400 block of East 70th Street at approximately 12:40 a.m. when a man walked up to him and opened fire, police said. The victim was struck in the left shoulder and left leg, and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.
- Just after 2 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Langley, a 45-year-old man was walking on a sidewalk when he heard shots and felt pain in his buttocks, police said. The man was taken to St. Bernards, where he is listed in stable condition.
- Three people were hurt in a shooting Saturday morning in the city’s Brighton Park neighborhood. Just after 2 a.m., the victims were in a sedan traveling southbound when a person in a black SUV pulled up alongside their vehicle and opened fire. A 42-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was listed in critical condition. A 19-year-old woman, who was also shot multiple times, was listed in critical condition at Mount Sinai. A 17-year-old girl was also taken to Mount Sinai, where she was listed in stable condition. No suspect is in custody, and Area Central Detectives are investigating.
- In the 7600 block of South May at approximately 3:51 a.m., a 33-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk when a person in a black sedan opened fire, striking him in the abdomen and left arm. He was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, police said.
- Chicago police responded to a call of a person with a gun in the 800 block of North Leclaire Avenue at approximately 10:48 a.m., and when they arrived they found evidence of a shooting. A short time later, officers learned that a 29-year-old man had been shot in the left ankle, and had transported himself to West Suburban Hospital. The man is in good condition, and police are investigating the shooting.
- A 57-year-old man was walking in the 2700 block of West Flournoy at approximately 1 a.m. when he heard shots and felt pain in his buttocks, according to police. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.
- Just before 1 a.m. in the 2300 block of South California, a 23-year-old man was chased by two men and was shot in the chest and back, police said. The gunmen fled the scene, and the man was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition.
- Just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, a 23-year-old man was shot in the foot while driving a vehicle, according to police. After the shooting, the man drove away from the scene, and ultimately struck a police vehicle that was heading westbound on 74th Street, according to authorities. An officer was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, while the man who had been shot is in stable condition at Christ Hospital. Two passengers in his vehicle, a 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, were both taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition as a result of the crash.
- Around 3:45 a.m., a 23-year-old woman was shot while traveling in a vehicle in the 3700 block of South Winchester. Police said the woman was riding in the car when she heard shots and realized she had been struck in the shoulder. The woman told officers she didn't see the gunmen and did not know where the shots came from. She took herself to Stroger Hospital where she was listed in stable condition. Police said it was unclear if the victim was the intended target but an investigation remained ongoing.
- In the 1600 block of North Central Avenue, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert just after 6 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man who said that he had been inside a restaurant when a bullet came through the building, striking him in the jaw. The man was taken to West Suburban Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.
- ShotSpotter technology alerted officers to a shooting in the 1600 block of South Homan at approximately 6:42 a.m., according to police. When they arrived on the scene, they found a 30-year-old man that had suffered gunshot wounds to his face and leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
- A man walked into Northwestern Hospital at approximately 3:30 a.m., saying that he had been shot at aparty. Officers could not determine the location of the party, and the victim was unable to provide the information. The man was treated for a gunshot wound to his right leg, and an investigation is ongoing.
- Just after noon in the 2100 block of West Arthur, a 23-year-old man was shot multiple times by a gunman in a black and gray truck. The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition with gunshot wounds to his back.
- In the 1300 block of South Farrar Drive just before 4 p.m., a 26-year-old man was parking his vehicle when two men got out of a Hyundai Sonata and fired shots at him, striking him in the knee. The man was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.
- Around 11:30 p.m., a 25-year-old woman was shot while she was with friends in the 2700 block of North Washtenaw. Police said witnesses believed the shots were fired from a nearby expressway and no offender description was available. The woman was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition. Area North detectives were investigating.
- A 26-year-old man was shot in the chest around 10:30 a.m. while trying to buy merchandise in the 8700 block of South Mackinaw from someone he had contacted through an online retail marketplace, police said. When the man arrived for the exchange, the offender "announced a robbery and shot the victim," authorities said. The man is in serious condition at University of Chicago Hospital.
- At about 4:15 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot while walking near an apartment building in the 2500 block of South California, police said. The man was entering an alleyway when he was approached by another man, about 20 years old, who displayed a handgun, according to police. The victim, who had a valid FOID card and concealed carry license, then pulled out his own handgun and opened fire, authorities said. The 20-year-old was shot in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Area Central detectives were investigating.
- Around 12:30 a.m. a 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital from the 7100 block of South Rhodes for what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. The man told authorities he was walking to his vehicle when another man and a woman walked up and asked if he had been to Cook County Jail. He said one of them then fired shots, striking the victim in the leg, police said, but later admitted the wound was self-inflicted. The man was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in stable condition.
- A 30-year-old man was shot in the arm just after 3 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Mohawk, according to police. The man told officer he was drunk and didn't remember what happened, but recalled seeing a man with a gun. Police said the victim wasn't able to provide authorities with any other details on the shooting. Area Central detectives were investigating.
