Hundreds of thousands of Catholics from across Illinois are set to visit Des Plaines over the next two days as the annual Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe gets underway.

Catholics arrived at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines on Sunday ahead of a pilgrimage paying homage to the patron saint of the Americas. NBC 5’s Lexi Sutter reports.

With the largest pilgrimage in the United States coming up on Monday, here’s a look ahead at the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Preparations continue as the Chicago area prepares for the largest gathering of pilgrims in the United States for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Beginning this Wednesday, Dec. 6, Telemundo Chicago and NBC 5 Chicago will be providing viewers with expanded local and international coverage of one of the most significant cultural and religious observances in the world, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
