MLB slugger and Illinois-native Jim Thome has been voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, the Pro Baseball Writers’ Association of America announced Wednesday.

Thome, who slugged 612 home runs and drove in 1699 RBI in his 22 year big-league career, will go into the Hall in his first year of eligibility.

Atlanta Braves slugger Chipper Jones, Montreal Expos outfielder Vladimir Guerrero, and San Diego Padres closer Trevor Hoffman were also named as 2018 Inductees by the PBWAA. 

Thome spent the majority of his big league career with the Cleveland Indians, playing for parts of 13 seasons with the team. He also spent four years with the Chicago White Sox, hitting 134 home runs and driving in 369 RBI during his tenure on the South Side.

The slugger also spent parts of his career with the Philadelphia Phillies, Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Baltimore Orioles.
