Cold, windy conditions have gripped the Chicago area, and they don't plan on letting go any time soon.
The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for all of the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana beginning at 11 a.m. The advisory is expected to last until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
In most areas, winds will stay in the 25 to 35 mile per hour range with frequent gusts up to 45 miles per hour. At times, gusts could reach 50 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
Along with the high winds, the air will feel chilly and the skies will be cloudy throughout most of the day. As cloud cover increases, there is a chance for isolated showers late in the day.
As the temperature drops Tuesday night, the winds will stay strong. Temperatures will linger in the low to mid-30s with possible wind chill values in the forecast by Wednesday morning.
Strong winds and chilly temperatures will continue throughout the day Wednesday with more potential for 35 to 45 mile per hour gusts.
The National Weather Service warns that the dangerously high winds could make driving in certain areas difficult, particularly on north-south roads. With gusts of this magnitude, falling tree limbs could also pose a threat.

Below average temperatures are trending this week, with a high of 53 degrees on Tuesday followed by highs in the low to mid-50s for the rest of the week. Temperatures will drop even further at night, bringing a chance for frost later in the week.
While the wind is expected to calm down by Thursday, temperatures will remain below average. Thursday and Friday morning will see a potential for frost in some areas as a result of the cold.
On the bright side, conditions will be dry for most of the week.
