Whitney Young Students Beat World in AP Exam

More African-American seniors at Chicago's Whitney Young Magnet High School passed the college-level English Language Advanced Placement exam last year than at any other school in the world, public or private, officials said Wednesday.

The distinction, based on only 34 kids, was enough to beat similar selective-enrollment schools in New York City and Washington, D.C.

"We're just thrilled," said Whitney Young Principal Joyce Kenner.
