One man and three juveniles have been charged after breaking into a residence in west suburban Wheaton and shortly, fleeing the scene with a stolen vehicle Sunday afternoon.
Gerardo Flores, 18, of the 4900 block of West Fletcher, and three juveniles whose names have not been released, were charged with attempt of residential burglary, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle, according to the Wheaton Police Department and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Officers responded to a call around 7 p.m. of three individuls trying to break into a residence in the 1600 block of East Pershing Sunday.
Authorities said that upon arrival, the defendants fled the scene in a stolen vehicle and engaged in brief car chase. "It is alleged that the defendants crashed their vehicle in the driveway of a residence on North West Street and that the defendants abandoned the vehicle," police said.
All four suspects were found hiding in shed at a residence on Harrison Street and taken into custody, officials said.
Flores was being held at the DuPage County Jail and his bail was set at $150,000 Monday afternoon, the state’s attorney’s office said.
The juveniles were being held at the Kane County Youth Home and are scheduled to appear in court on May 7.
