Social Media Threat Against Southwest Suburban High School Prompts Large Police Presence

Police increased patrols at a southwest suburban high school Monday morning after someone posted an anonymous threat against the school on social media.

The increased police presence at Hillcrest High School follows an investigation into a Facebook threat made against the school.

School officials said authorities found “no credible evidence that the threat is valid,” but noted that County Club Hills and Hazel Crest police would have a “visible presence” Monday.

The anonymous poster checked in at the school saying “I’m going to everyone in Hillcrest.”

The school said it was notified after a parent sent a screenshot of the threat.

“We are grateful for the many calls, emails and contacts made to school staff and administration allowing us to act quickly,” an email to parents read.
