An unmarked police car was swallowed by a massive sinkhole in Des Plaines Friday.
The squad had just pulled onto the sidewalk at River and Rand roads when the street gave way.
A nearby building and hot dog stand were evacuated as a precaution.
A high-pressure gas line and broken sewer are below the street, which will remain closed until the damage can be assessed.
