A 23-year-old woman was killed in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash Friday afternoon at the Illinois-Wisconsin border, police said.
A semi-truck, car and SUV with a horse trailer were involved in the crash at U.S. 45 and I-94 in the town of Bristol. The woman's identity was not immediately released.
Two others were transported to the hospital after the crash. Their conditions weren't known.
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department initially told NBC 5 sister station WTMJ that at least one person suffered life-threatening injuries. They later confirmed the woman had died.
The highway was expected to be closed for several hours.
