Police are warning residents about a series or armed robberies over the past week in the Wicker Park neighborhood.
In each of the reported incidents, two men approached victims on the street or in an alley, announced a robbery and displayed a handgun, according to a community alert from Chicago Police. They went through victims’ pockets to take their property before running away.
The victims were returning home and, in some instances, distracted by texting, police said.
The robberies occurred:
- In the 1400 block of North Milwaukee about 1:30 a.m. March 29;
- In the 1500 block of North Paulina about 2:30 a.m. April 2;
- And in the 1300 block of North Wood about 3:30 a.m. April 2.
The suspects were described as two men in their 20s, according to police. One stood between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet tall, weighed about 170 pounds and had a dark complexion and curly black hair. The other stood between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9, weighed 150 to 165 pounds and had a dark complexion.
