Cops pulled the plug on a camping trip for 20 people when it turned into a concert for at least 1,000 expected in McHenry County.
Groovestock was to be held this past weekend on a farm in unincorporated Harvard, but organizers had failed to obtain the proper permit, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office said.
The property's owner had given permission for a camping trip for around 20 friends, but the concert's organizer, Turn Up the Bass Productions, booked about 40 DJs on two stages and had sold tickets for $10 and $20, police told the Chicago Sun-Times.
Police patrolled the area throughout the weekend to ensure ticket holders who did not know about the concert's cancellation did not trespass on the property, the report said.
Scott Lansford, who police say organized the concert, did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment.
