A man says he was bitten by a coyote while walking his dog Sunday night in Orland Park.
It wouldn't be the first coyote attack in Orland Park — including one that killed a dog just a few months ago.
“All I could think about is ‘Oh my God! I’m getting attacked by a coyote,’” John Greenan told NBC 5.
Greenan says when he took his service dog Bugs out the garage for a walk, they encountered a coyote near his front door.
“The coyote lunged at us," he said. "At that time, my service dog kind of pushed me back and went after the coyote.”
Greenan says he went to the side of his townhome and jumped in front of his dog to protect him from the coyote.
“Like I said, he’s my best friend," Greenan said of Bugs. "He’s my hero. He means everything to me.”

Greenan says the coyote bit him five times so he went to the hospital to get rabies shots.
“The ER physician was telling me this is the second coyote bite in the last couple weeks," he said. "There has to be something done about this."
Besides reports of biting humans, coyotes have also attacked dogs in Orland Park. Luckily this one survived.
Neighbors told NBC 5 they want the city to do more.
Experts recommend you keep your dog on a tight leash, make noise as you walk and carry a flashlight at night to try to keep coyotes away.
