Another Woman Attacked in Oak Park

Time, location similar to three previous attacks in the last month

Another woman was attacked and robbed in Oak Park on Tuesday night, bringing the total number of similar attacks on women in the last month to four.

The victim told police she was attacked shortly after she parked her vehicle in the alley behind her home and entered her backyard.

Like the three incidents previously, she said she was approached from behind, grabbed around the neck and robbed.

The woman, in her 40s, did not get a look at her attacker, but neighbors reported seeing a man get into a light-colored Ford SUV and drive west.

Not only is the modus operandi similar in all four attacks, so is the time and location of the attacks.  All have happened between 11:50 p.m. and 12:45 a.m., and all have been off the Lake Street corridor between North Ridgeland Avenue and North Austin Boulevard.

A composite sketch was released last week by Oak Park police of the man they believe is behind the attacks.  The sketch was based off a detailed description provided by the third victim, Lisa Dodge, who was attacked on April 4.

Police said they're looking for a black man in his 20s who stands between 5 feet, 10 inches and six feet tall with a medium build.  In one of the attacks, it's believed he was wearing a light-colored jacket and a black knit hat.

Anyone with information on the man in the sketch is asked to contact the Oak Park Police Department by calling 708-386-3800 or by sending email to  Information can also be provided anonymously by calling 708-434-1636 or at

Another woman was also attacked in Oak Park Tuesday night, but police said they do not believe it's related to the other four robberies.
