Man With Gun Crashes Stolen Vehicle in St. Charles: Police

A man with a gun crashed a stolen vehicle into two others Monday in west suburban St. Charles.

Jarvas Gordon, 31, was driving a Kia Sportage southbound about 9 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Kirk Road when he sideswiped a Ford van, crossed the center line and struck a northbound Toyota Camry head-on, St. Charles police said.

When Gordon got out of the Kia, he dropped a handgun on the ground without making threats or firing shots, police said. He was taken to Delnor Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while the drivers of the other two vehicles were treated on scene but not transported.

A subsequent investigation identified the Kia that Gordon was driving as having been stolen from Aurora earlier in the day, police said. He also showed signs of intoxication.

Gordon was charged with several felonies and traffic offenses, including:

· Unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon;

· Possessing a firearm without a FOID card;

· Possession of a stolen motor vehicle; and

· Aggravated DUI with a suspended or revoked license.

He was released from the hospital Wednesday and taken to Kane County Jail, police said.

He is due in court Thursday.
