Man Said He Killed Wife, Son in South Suburban Home: Police

Police are waiting on a search warrant to go into a home where they say a man told them he killed his wife and son Thursday night in the south suburbs.

A cryptic call came in about 3:30 p.m. from the home near 194th and Minerva in Glenwood, police say.

Family and friends are in shock while everyone searches for a motive.

"He stated that he had killed his son and his wife," Police Chief Demetrious Cook tells NBC 5.

Both bodies were found on the second floor in a gruesome, "bloody scene."

Police have not released names, but neighbors here say the family was as good as they come.

"They were good people," Mike Stephens, a neighbor, said.

Sheron Davis, who said he was the best friend of the adult son killed, tells NBC 5 he can't imagine what led to his and his mother's murder. He says the family and community needs strength and prayers.

Another man who police said is a member of the family is in Utah. Police are trying to notify next of kin. Only then can they confirm the identities of the dead.
