Jane Byrne Interchange Ramp Closures Begin

The closure of ramps from inbound Interstate 90/94 to Interstate 290 at the Jane Byrne Interchange begin this week.

The ramp from the inbound Kennedy to the inbound Eisenhower between Jackson and Halsted streets is scheduled to close after midnight Wednesday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. A posted detour will direct traffic to continue to the outbound Dan Ryan to re-enter the expressway at the 18th Street interchange until 5 a.m. Thursday.

The ramp from the outbound Eisenhower to the outbound Dan Ryan will close at 10 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. June 19, according to IDOT.

A posted detour will direct traffic to the outbound Kennedy to reconnect with the outbound Dan Ryan at the Augusta Boulevard interchange.

The ramps will close as part of construction for the new flyover ramp linking the inbound Dan Ryan to the outbound Eisenhower, a major part of the Jane Byrne Interchange reconstruction project, according to IDOT.

The project will replace a single-lane, winding ramp with a two-lane ramp and bridge south of Roosevelt Road and over Harrison Street.
