“I Thought A Truck Crashed Through My House!”

Firefighters are battling fire and frozen hydrants after a gas explosion leveled one home in the 33800 block of Lake Shore Drive in Gages Lake.

"Every indication right now is that this is a natural gas explosion," Thompson told the Grayslake Review. "Nicor was called in, and has turned off necessary gas lines to make the area safe for the time being."

The call came in about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Personnel from the Lake County Sheriff's Office assisted the Grayslake Fire and Rescue Department at the scene, said Sgt. Chris Thompson of the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Thompson said the explosion caused "extensive damage on the home it occurred in and subsequent damage to a nearby home."

No injuries were reported, but the explosion was "so loud I thought a truck crashed into my house," said Sara Trumpane, who lives in the area.
