Fire Closes Chicago Heights Polling Place

Voting put on hold at precinct 46 due to fire across street

Voting at one Chicago Heights polling place was temporarily put on hold Tuesday due to a fire.

The fire broke out around 3 p.m. at a building across from the street from precinct 46 at the Golden Towers Senior City at 1706 East End Ave.

Several streets were blocked in the area due to the fire.

Voting officials moved that precinct's voting to Lincoln School, at 1520 Center Avenue.

The primary election narrows the field of candidates to replace former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. in Illinois' 2nd Congressional District.
