Chicago-Area Memorial Day Parades to Watch This Weekend

Chicago Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony and Parade

The Wreath Laying Ceremony meant to honor all men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice by choosing to defend our country, will commence an hour before the annual parade. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m., Sat. May 26 at the Daley Plaza (between Dearborn and Washington streets) and the parade will begin at noon on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street.

Norwood Park Memorial Day Parade

The parade will take place at 11 a.m., Mon. May 28, at Onahan School, 6634 W. Raven Street and will shortly be followed by a tribute ceremony at 12:15 p.m.

Lincolnwood Memorial Day Parade

The parade is scheduled to begin at 10:20 a.m. on Mon. May 28 and will start at the corner of Cicero and Pratt Avenues in Lincolnwood. Children ages eight and under are invited to participate on bikes, trikes, wagons or scooters. All children riding in the parade must be accompanied by an adult participant, 18 years or older, and riders must wear a bike helmet. A ceremony will take place afterward in Madeleine’s Garden.

Naperville Memorial Day Parade

Featuring 17 marching bands, this parade will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Mon. May 28, starting off from Jackson and West streets, on to Washington, then north to Benton, following east to Saints Peter & Paul church parking lot.

Beverly Area Memorial Day Parade

Entertainment, food, a beer truck, children’s activities and special guests are expected starting at 10 a.m., Mon. May 28 at 110 and Longwood Drive.

Homewood Memorial Day Parade

This parade starts at 10:30 a.m., Mon. May 28, on Dixie Highway from Chestnut Road to Olive Road and west to Harwood Avenue, stopping at Veterans Park for a ceremony.
