A woman killed Thursday morning when her car struck a tree on Lake Shore Drive near 47th Street was identified as a Chicago Public Schools teacher, officials said this afternoon.
Pamela Burns, 51, of the 9200 block of South Paxton Avenue, was killed just before 8:30 a.m. Emergency crews responding to the accident said she was dead on the scene.
Burns taught at A.N. Pritzker Elementary, at 2009 W. Schiller St., CPS spokesman Frank Shuftan said.
