Skateboarder Struck by Car Last Week Dies

The accident happend over a week ago

    Police pulled over the hit-and-run driver blocks away from where the accident occurred.

    A 42-year-old man, who was critically injured during a hit-and-run accident while he was skateboarding in Wicker Park, has died.

    Reginald “Reggie” Destin was pronounced dead on Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

    Destin was skateboarding in the bike lane on the 1700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when he was struck by a Dodge Neon around 2 a.m. on Oct. 19. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

    Last week, police charged 30-year-old Luis P. Pena with two felony counts of aggrevated driving under the influence and one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident along with several misdemeanor charges.
