Skateboarder Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run

Police pulled over hit-and-run driver blocks away

A man riding a skateboard was critically injured early Friday in a hit-and-run accident in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood, police said.

The 42-year-old skateboarder was traveling south in the bike lane around 2 a.m. on the 1700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when he was struck, according to police. The vehicle fled on North Avenue, but officers spotted it and stopped the driver blocks away.

The skateboarder was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The driver was taken into custody.
