We Dig on Swine

Brookfield Zoo celebrates National Pig Day

What would we do without the pig?  No bacon, no pork rinds, no BBQ pulled pork – how flavorless our lives would all be.  And when they're living, they're supposedly pretty smart and maybe even cute little critters, too. One of our favorite movie quotes of all time from ‘Pulp Fiction' is about the pig – it's a little too foul-mouthed to repeat here, but you can check it out yourself.   Anyway, we can all pay homage to the animal that provides oh-so-many tasty treats this weekend as Brookfield Zoo celebrates National Pig Day on Sunday, March 1. Crafts and games begin at 10 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. pig demonstration at the Children's Zoo and then a parade at 1:30 p.m. Admission to the Children's Zoo and Hamill Family Play Zoo is free on National Pig Day. Regular zoo admission is $12 for adults; $8 for children.
