Do you have fabulous lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender friends who are under the age of 30? If so, you might want to consider nominating them in an annual competition sponsored by the Windy City Times.
Every year since 2000, the paper has honored 30 activists, athletes, journalists, students, HIV/AIDS volunteers, performers and other motivated individuals under the age of 30 who have taken strides to move the LGBT community forward. Nominees must be under 30 years old as of July 1, 2009 and have made some substantial contributions to the LGBT community, whether it's in their professional, political or volunteer-oriented lives.
Individuals, organizations, co-workers, friends and family can nominate people by sending an e-mail or fax to Windy City Media Group. The nomination should be 100 words or less and should state what achievements or contributions the nominee has made. Nominators should include their own names and contact information as well as the contact information of the nominee. Self-nominations are accepted.
Nominations can be sent to Andrew@WindyCityMediaGroup.com or faxed to Andrew Davis' attention to 773-871-7609, by April 24, 2009. Winners will be awarded Tuesday, June 23 at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted.
