Folk ‘n' Roll

Sometimes it seems like there are so many solo guitarists out there, it's nearly impossible to distinguish one from the other. On the other hand, Ohio transplant Mark Minelli is having no trouble distinguishing himself from the pack with his own refreshing brand of folk music. Utilizing a smooth, yet aggressive, style with international flair, Minelli will undoubtedly pull your folk-hating friends back from the dark side. A Chicagoan since 2002, Minelli has been restlessly working on his craft while playing at a plethora of north side venues and even a frat party or two. His gigs at Town Hall Pub may not have been as hyped as the Flosstradamus performances of yesteryear, but he's had no trouble making a fan out of Robin Williams.

Check out Minelli's video for Murder In The Streets, as well as his performance this Friday, January 16 at 11 p.m. It's at Quencher's Saloon (2401 N. Western Ave.) There is a $5 donation and you can call 773.276.9730 for more info. 21+
