Willow Springs' very own Cooper's Hawk Winery has been given the honor of providing the sparkling wine for the First Lady's traditional toast at the Illinois Inaugural Gala in D.C. on Monday, Jan. 19 -- the night before Barack Obama takes his place as the nation's 44th president.
Cooper's Hawk, one of Illinois' largest wineries and the only Illinois winery represented at the event, will also offer a selection of red and white wines throughout the evening, including pinot gris, viognier, shiraz and pinot noir, in addition to the Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine used in the momentous toast by Michelle Obama.
The Illinois Inaugural Gala is hosted by the Illinois State Society and will be held at the Renaissance Washington, D.C. Hotel. It happens to be one of the hottest tickets in town for the inauguration, as presidential tradition holds that the prez-to-be hit up his home state's party.
