Nice to Meat You

Meat and potatoes are the theme this weekend at Green City Market

Just because we vacillate from 60 degree weather one day to a blizzard the next doesn't mean we have to sacrifice fresh, local produce in our diets during this undesirable time of year. The Green City Market continues its indoor market this Saturday, Feb. 21 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon. Every first and third Saturday of the month through April 18, you'll be able to shop for the quality produce you've grown accustomed to from this market during the summer. There is also a theme for each market day with special culinary events surrounding it. This market's theme is hearty ''meat and potatoes.''  Chef Michael Fiorello from Mercat a la Planxa will be doing a chef demo at 9 a.m.; Chef Patrick Sheerin from The Signature Room at the 95th at 11 a.m. and Chef Mark Steuer from Hot Chocolate appears at noon. Capacity for each demo is 35 people, and RSVPs are required.  Send an email to admin@chicagogreencitymarket.org, or call 773-880-1266 and specify which demo you would like to attend.
