A 21-year-old Illinois National Guard soldier died this week after hanging on for more than a month after she was injured. Spc. Simone Robinson was injured in an explosion Jan. 17 in Afghanistan. She died March 1 at a medical center in Texas.
Robinson lived in Robbins, Ill. She was a graduate of Thorton High School in Havey. She is the 24th casualty the Illinois National Guard has suffered in Afghanistan and Iraq.
