Come On, Get Hoppy

Two beer events to keep even the most diehard hopheads happy

April will end on a high note as two upcoming events introduce beer lovers to a bevy of ales, lagers, porters and the like in festive, friendly settings.

If you've got a fetish for beer and a mustache that is the envy of your friends, you won't want to miss the installment of Sheffield's Beer School Bar featuring Sierra Nevada Artisan Ales along with a cheeky mustache party and contest from 7-9PM on Tuesday, April 28. Guests will have the chance to get their 'staches sudsy with $10 flights of Sierra Nevada Artisan Ales, including Pale Ale, Summerfest, Brown Saison, Kellerweis and Chico IPA. After the tasting, show off your cookie duster with the best of 'em during the mustache soiree, which features prizes for the best facial hair.

Perhaps a bit more high-brow, but no less convivial is Brasserie Jo's Spring Festival of Beer from 6-8PM on Wednesday, April 29. The River North French favorite will serve up tastes of more than 20 different brews, including international, national and local selections. Representatives from each brewery, such as Two Brothers, Metropolitan, Lagunitas, Dark Horse and more, will be on hand to pour samples and discuss their offerings. Chef Jean Joho will create a menu of brew-friendly appetizers for the evening, offering beer cheese beignets, signature tarte flambees and croques monsieur sandwiches to accompany all of the hoppy goodness. Tickets to Brasserie Jo's Spring Festival of Beer are $20 per person; get yours by visiting TicketLeap.
