Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Chicago Blackhawks defenseman James Wisniewski has been activated from injured reserve after recovering from knee surgery performed in the summer.
Wisniewski suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during the offseason. He had been on an injury-exception conditioning loan at Rockford of the AHL and played in two games for the IceHogs.
The 24-year-old Canton, Michigan native set career bests last season with seven goals, 19 assists and 26 points in 68 games. He also led Chicago defensemen with 103 penalty minutes.
Wisniewski has appeared in 137 games over the past three seasons for the Blackhawks and has registered 11 goals with 32 assists for 43 points.
