Bicyclist Critically Injured in Logan Square Hit-and-Run

A hit-and-run incident in the Logan Square neighborhood left a bicyclist critically injured Friday afternoon.

The driver of a car struck Ricardo Capistran in the 1600 block of North Talman at about 1 p.m., police said. The driver was allegedly traveling east on North Avenue and then made a left turn onto North Talman when the accident occurred.

After the incident, the driver fled the scene. The car is described as a dark-colored SUV, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.

Capistran was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The victim's brother said Capistran is in the Intensive Care Unit and is using a respirator.

Capistran suffered broken ribs and fingers and a broken clavicle, shoulder and chest plate, his brother said. His family is waiting information from doctors about a possible brain injury as well.

Police continue to search for the driver of the car.
