‘I Was Just in Shock': Woman Describes Violent Attack After Leaving Red Line Station

“You hear it in the news, and you feel bad, but when it actually happens to you, you're afraid of even going out,” Jacqueline said.

A woman said she was violently attacked by two men after leaving a Red Line train.

Jacqueline, who asked us not to share her last name, said she got off at the Morse stop at 6 p.m. when she was attacked from behind in the 1800 block of West Lunt.

“All I felt was a bang on my head on back of my head, somebody banged me and I fell forward,” Jacqueline said.

She said two men yanked violently on the cord to her headphones and demanded her belongings.

“All I remember is they were kicking me,” Jacqueline said.

Jacqueline screamed for help and after what seemed like an eternity, the men took off.

“I was just in shock. I never thought that would happen to me,” Jacqueline said. “I always take that route coming back from work heading home.”

After catching her breath, Jacqueline called 911. She spent several hours at the hospital where doctors treated her injuries.

“I broke my nose, I have a lump on my forehead and the back of my head. And I have bruises on the side of my leg and my back, my shoulder,” Jacqueline said.

Jacqueline is now getting by with the support of her family.

“They tell me be tough, be tough, but it's not easy,” Jacqueline said.

She says the men didn't get her purse or phone, but they did take her sense of safety.

“You hear it in the news, and you feel bad, but when it actually happens to you, you're afraid of even going out,” Jacqueline said.

Jacqueline says both of her attackers were wearing hooded sweatshirts, but because she was attacked from behind she did not get a good look at their faces. So far, no arrests have been made.
