Travel back in time to Chicago's 1930s gangster heyday at Public Landing, a Lockport location used in "Public Enemies," the John Dillinger biopic starring Johnny Depp. The restaurant will celebrate its movie debut with a timely soiree on Wednesday, July 22.
The modern-day restaurant is situated in Lockport's Gaylord Building, a National Trust Historic Site that was built in 1838. In "Public Enemies," the building stands in for the "Rockford Tool & Die Shop" where an elaborate train heist is being planned by Depp and a criminal character played by Giovanni Ribisi.
This flamboyant era will come to life at Public Landing during its "Public Enemies" themed party, complete with fun themed drinks like the Red Dress Martini, Gangster Old Fashioned, Manhattan Melodrama and Criminal Cranberry Cosmo. Ladies who don a red dress to the event (commemorating the famed "lady in red" who allegedly brought Dillinger to his demise) will receive a complimentary chef's choice appetizer, and live entertainment will be provided by local pop and R & B band Nova Soul.
Public Landing's "Public Enemies" party will take place from 6-9PM and costs $35 to attend. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling 815-838-6500. Fifty percent of all proceeds will benefit the Lockport FISH Food Pantry.
