YouTube Co-Founder Pledges $1M to Aurora School

One of the founders of YouTube has pledged $1 million to his suburban Chicago math and science high school.

The Daily Herald reports YouTube co-founder Steve Chen has said he'll donate the money to the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora. He's a 1996 graduate of the school, which is designing a $1.9 million facility to be called the Innovation Hub. The facility is aimed at helping students, businesses and entrepreneurs work together on new ideas.

The school will need to fundraise the remaining $900,000 needed for the project.

The facility could be built by late 2015 or early 2016. It is to have a touch-screen video wall and workstations with 3-D printers and scanners.
